The main goal of the C.I.C.E.RO project is to provide all citizens with a technologically advanced means to rediscover values, historical heritage and itineraries of the European history. This will be achieved through the development and implementation of an integrated information system in the various partner cities (e.g. Rome, Vienna etc.). This system will allow both visitors and citizens to access information which then can be used as a tool to plan visits as well as providing virtual guidance and assistance. This is useful both before and during a visit to a city. Initially, the system is available for use via the Internet, "Information Points" and "Visitor Centres". The CICERO Information system will provide resident and visiting citizens with a set of friendly and cost-effective telematic services for the fruition of the main cultural, historical, tourist and entertainment facilities of the City. Furthermore, the implemented system will be exploited as a powerful tool to ease interactive communication between different groups of citizens. n addition a City User Interface will be developed, which will specifically cater for the needs of disadvantaged citizens and/or groups of citizens, such as elderly and disabled people living in isolated or distant residential areas or even young people lacking facilities to actively join the social and cultural life of the City. |
