TeleMart is a trans-European work agency for teleworkers. The project has surveyed companies to identify new opportunities for work which could be contracted out to teleworkers, and set up an online work brokerage system or "virtual marketplace" on the Internet for suppliers of teleworked services which are appropriate for electronic tendering and purchasing. TeleMart aims to create a high-quality, reliable market "brand" and has developed appropriate quality control systems for the services provided by the teleworkers. TeleMart will work with client companies through "information audits" to resolve blocks on contracting out work from the customer standpoint (such as issues of confidentiality), and will assist the service providers (teleworkers) to refine their services in line with their customers' needs. The TeleMart consortium includes three project partners with several years of acting as ad-hoc brokers of telework services in conjunction with economic development activities in rural areas, and in urban/rural centred operations. Other partners have technical expertise or offer opportunities to carry out trials in less developed teleworking markets in southern Europe. |
