This project hopes to employ teleworking ideas and technology in such a way as to help socially marginalised people to re-enter the labour market. The groups specifically aimed at include disabled, migrants, rural population and urban poor. The approach that the PERIPHERA project has taken is to establish Telecentres in six validation sites. These sites allow the marginalised individual to take part in training in skills including teleworking, the centres will also provide opportunities for access to essential equipment in pursuit of skills development. These centres will then exploit ‘new opportunities for working’ and ‘new ways of working’ (their quotes) through self-help. The project hopes to provide the job opportunities through sponsors and employment of self-help groups that would be based in the PERIPHERA telecentres. There are seven Periphera telematic application sites. |
