D004: Information pack and user manual for Compuserve services
Download D004.ZIP
Date prepared: January 1997
Abstract:
This information pack and manual has been designed as a series of three practical
lessons to help you become familiar with the primary telematic tools provided by the
CompuServe platform and the Telework Europa Forum.
The CompuServe platform is particularly suited to the needs of people who move around
the world, or work as part of an international team. It has access points (nodes)
throughout the world and uses an eight bit protocol which is compatible with modern
computers. CompuServe is an "On-Line-Service" provider with a range of dedicated
services, as opposed to an Internet access provider who merely provides local access to
the Internet. The main drawer-back of using CompuServe (or America On Line which provides
a comparable service) is cost. These service providers charge on the basis of connection
time rather than a flat annual or monthly rate. For this reason these lessons are designed
to help you use the minimum of connection time whilst obtaining the maximum benefit of the
tools provided.
D008: Information pack and user manual: using the Internet webboard
Download D008.ZIP
Date prepared: January 1999
Abstract:
This information pack and manual has been designed as a series of practical lessons to
help you become familiar with the primary telematic tools provided by the web-based
platform of the Telework Europa services.
A WebBoard is part of an Internet Web-site that has been set up so that the individual
user can interact directly with the site. Not only can the user read what other people are
saying, but she or he can make direct contributions.
The TWEURO project has set up a WebBoard for use by projects for open discussions on
matters that concern them within the TAP framework. We are using a WebBoard designed by
O'Rielly, and these notes refer to that software. This second version of the user manual
updates the first version published one year ago, both in terms of new features but also
based on the experience of users which TWEURO has collected.
